Student Perspectives | FCIS Spotlight: Business is More Than ‘Just Making Money’

Meet Fang Yuan, a determined and inspiring student at Forest City International School. In her talk, “Business is More Than ‘Just Making Money’,” Fang Yuan shares her personal journey of growth, confidence, and discovery.

Once a very shy girl, Fang Yuan began to see her potential through the encouragement of a childhood friend, who helped her realize her natural talent for business. Taking that first step out of her comfort zone, she started participating in competitions such as IGM and SIC, where she explored entrepreneurship in real-world contexts.

Her dedication and teamwork led her all the way to an international competition in Paris, where she proudly led her team to achieve the Global Silver Award. Through these experiences, Fang Yuan not only developed her business skills but also discovered her voice and confidence.

In her talk, she reflects on how business is not just about making money—it’s about growth, collaboration, and creating value. Her story encourages others to embrace opportunities, believe in themselves, and step beyond their fears.

At Forest City International School, public speaking is more than a skill—it’s a platform for students to express their ideas, challenge themselves, and grow into confident individuals. As part of our High School Graduation Requirements, Grade 11 and 12 students write and deliver original talks inspired by TED’s format and values.
